It has come and gone. The Nautica New York City Triathlon was an awesome experience. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all you Super Supporters out there…(you know who you are)…you contributed funds and encouragement!!! My very pregnant friend even biked there with her camera gear to take some photos.
Our team raised over a million dollars for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and I am so proud that YOU were all part of that.
These next iPhone, hipstamic photos are courtesy of Jesse arriving with me at 4:30am. Jen my good friend and dedicated training partner and I are walking through this tunnel. Hard to believe not one of the 4000 other racers were here at this second. A second later yes…
Its pretty dark…and soon we will be jumping in this River..The Hudson…if you didn’t know..
But not before full identification. Numbers on our arms, around our wrists, on our helmets, bikes..This is me and Hilda..my other awesome athletic friend. Everyone grabbed an anklet to track our time and progress and most of all to make sure if we jumped into the water we also crossed the finish line.
There were the 1100 volunteers in the hot sun, directing us where to go, cheering people on and handing out much needed water to name only a few things. A big job to take care of 4,000 racers. This race has personal meaning for me. My uncle was diagnosed with Leukemia. A reminder of what is at stake was when I was biking on the highway; a guy in front of me had a note written on the back of his shirt. It said, “In memory of my mother, my aunt and my grandma” Takes your breath away…
Now in daylight..some photos Amy Bolger took. THANKS so much Amy!!! She also made a slideshow: TAKE A LOOK!
